Abba Returns as Yobe NUJ Correspondents’ Chapel Chairman

The Yobe State Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Correspondents’ Chapel has elected new Executive Members to run its affairs for the next three years.

At the election held in Damaturu, the state capital, members of the union have re-elected Ahmed Abba of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) as Chairman of the Chapel for the second term.

In an acceptance speech, shortly after he was declared winner of the election, the chairman expressed gratitude to members of the union for giving him their mandate to serve as Chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel for the second term.

He pledged to build on the successes recorded and to also use the previous experience in addressing some areas of challenges encountered in his previous tenure.

Abba also appreciated the leadership of the Yobe State Council of the NUJ for facilitating the election by the union’s constitution and noted that their role in ensuring a smooth, credible, and peaceful process was commendable.

He commended Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni for his remarkable achievements in all facets of development and for being a friend of the media.

The chapel chairman further urged all stakeholders in the state, including Ministries, Departments, and Agencies to collaborate with journalists as partners in progress.

Other elected members were Musa Buba Mingyi of Channels Television as Vice Chairman, Habibu Idris Gimba of Daily Trust as Secretary, and Sa’adatu Maina of Neptune Prime to serve as Treasurer.
