President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed Federal Government’s readiness to support Taraba State in harnessing its abundant natural resources for economic growth and development.
President Tinubu made this known while declaring open the Taraba International Investment Summit TARAVEST held at the Banquet Hall of TY Danjuma House, Jalingo.
Represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, the President highlighted Taraba’s vast natural endowments, describing the summit as a timely call for collaboration to unlock the state’s economic potential.
He emphasized the Federal Government’s commitment to policies and programs that enhance agricultural productivity and stimulate other key sectors.
The President also commended Governor Agbu Kefas for his visionary leadership, stating that the summit would serve as a turning point in the economic transformation of Taraba State.
In his keynote address, Former Vice President of Nigeria, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar noted that private investment, particularly in agriculture a sector Taraba is renowned for, will not only boost internal revenue but also enhance food security and economic resilience.
In his remarks, Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas described the summit as “a light to the state,” assuring potential investors of a peaceful and business-friendly environment.
On his part, Chief Executive Officer of UBA, Tony Elumelu emphasized the role of the private sector in driving regional development and job creation.
In his speech, Chairman of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote applauded Governor Kefas’ initiative and advocated stronger collaboration between government and indigenous investors, stressing that no economy thrives without the impact of local investors.
Chairman of TARAVEST Planning Committee, Ndudi Elumelu, used the opportunity to encourage global investors to explore Taraba’s abundant resources for guaranteed returns.
Some dignitaries include President of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo who was represented by Ghanaian Minister of Special Development Initiative, Governor of Niger state, Umar Bago, Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Abubakar Sa’ad the third, Archbishop of Abuja, Most Reverend Ignatius Kaigama, Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, members of the diplomatic corps and captains of industries from around the world.
Participants at the Summit, themed “Unlocking Taraba’s Investment Potentials: Advancing Agriculture, Energy, Mining, and Industrialization for Sustainable Growth and Development”, praised the state government’s bold initiative and called for policies that would further open Taraba to local and international investors.
