National Assembly Tribunal upholds elections of Aliyu Aminu Garu of Bauchi Constituency

The National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal, sitting in Bauchi has dismissed the petition filed by Abdullahi Sirajo Jibrin the All Progressives Congress APC Challenging the Victory of Aliyu Aminu Garu of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP for the Bauchi Local Government Federal ,Constituency.

The presiding chairman of the panel Justice Nasiru Saminu dismissed the petition and fine the sum of N750,000 to the petitioner.

Abdullahi Sirajo Jibrin had approached the tribunal, urging it to declare him the rightful winner of the February 25 polls, claiming the result was manipulated in favour of the respondent, Aliyu Aminu Garu.

He also claimed that the election was marred by over Voting in some pulling Unit and non-compliance with the electoral act.

Reviewing the petition, Justice Nasiru Saminu declared that all the issues raised and the pieces of evidence tendered before the Tribunal were immaterial and inconsequential and lacked merit, and dismissed the petition for lack of merit.

Responding the lead counsel of the petitioners Barrister Sharifa Yusuf said they will study the judgement and adviced their client for next line of action

Also speaking counsel of the first respondent Aliyu Aminu Garu, Dahiru Ballo express satisfaction on the judgement said the petitioners failed to bring evidence to prove their petitions .
