The Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs is currently in Saudi Arabia to monitor the welfare of Nigerian pilgrims performing the 2025 Hajj exercise.
Speaking from Madinah, Senator Ali Ndume, who represents Borno South said the committee has begun oversight visits to assess accommodation, feeding and transportation arrangements for the pilgrims.
Senator Ndume explained that the visit is part of the National Assembly’s mandate to ensure Nigerian pilgrims receive proper care during the religious exercise.
He revealed that the committee met with pilgrims from Kebbi State who arrived the night before and reported satisfaction with their accommodation.
The team has also started observing dinner arrangements and is holding discussions with key stakeholders for further evaluation.
Senator Ndume said the Senate delegation will continue its oversight duties across Saudi Arabia, monitoring the Hajj process from start to finish.
He added that the committee will wait until the end of the pilgrimage before drawing final conclusions.
Other senators on the delegation include Sharafadeen Alli from Oyo South and Shahabi Yau from Zamfara North.
