As part of efforts to support vulnerable groups and persons with special needs, the wife of the Adamawa State Governor, Lami Ahmadu Fintiri, has led the distribution of relief items to 2,000 beneficiaries at the Special Education Centre in Jada Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

The initiative was carried out under the Food Bank Programme of the Nigeria Governors’ Spouses Forum, in collaboration with the Renewed Hope Initiative of the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, and the Fresh Air Pro-Life Empowerment Foundation, a pet project of the Adamawa First Lady.

The distribution exercise was aimed at triggering hope and resilience among the most vulnerable members of society.

It also reflects a deliberate investment in restoring dignity, in line with the vision of the Renewed Hope Initiative.

The First Lady reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to reaching vulnerable citizens and encouraged the culture of kindness and generosity among the people.

She acknowledged the contributions of fellow governors’ spouses for sustaining the quarterly outreach and urged beneficiaries in Jada to establish a local committee for effective and transparent distribution of the items.

In a welcome address, the Chairman of Jada Local Government, Salihu Mohammed So’o, commended the initiative for recognizing the needs of the less privileged and for empowering women and youths within the council to become self-reliant.

He noted that the programme has had a positive and lasting impact on the community.

The Principal of the Special Education Centre, Godwin Ularamu Gulak, appreciated the First Lady’s intervention in repairing broken boreholes and providing learning materials.

He also acknowledged the state government’s efforts such as the revival of school feeding in boarding schools, the payment of WAEC and NECO fees, and the implementation of a Seventy thousand Naira minimum wage.

He, however, identified the renovation of hostels, provision of beds, construction of a school fence, and installation of streetlights as areas requiring urgent attention.

Some of the beneficiaries interviewed by Radio Nigeria Fombina FM expressed their gratitude for the timely support provided through the initiative.

Items distributed included foodstuffs, non-food essentials, and educational materials.
