The Yobe State Director of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Muhammad Ali Tikau, has urged farmers and herders in the state to adopt dialogue as a key approach to mitigating conflicts and preventing their recurrence.
This is contained in a statement signed and made available to Radio Nigeria, Sunshine FM Yobe, by the Public Relations Officer of the Agency in the state, Sabiu Sule Maikwano.
According to the statement, Muhammad Tikau emphasised the importance of mutual understanding between the two groups, highlighting that grazing lands are designated for herders to rear their animals, while farmers should refrain from encroaching on these lands.
He noted that respect for boundaries is essential for fostering peaceful coexistence among the diverse communities in the state.
The State Director of NOA further underscored the significant contributions of both farmers and herders to Nigeria’s economic prosperity, calling on all parties to recognise and appreciate their roles in the nation’s development.
Tikau’s call for dialogue and cooperation aims to build harmony and sustainable peace in Yobe State, ensuring that economic activities can thrive without disruption from conflicts.
