Radio Nigeria Fombina FM Yola has been recognized for its impactful enlightenment and educational programs aimed at fostering peace and security in Adamawa State.

The commendation came from Alhaji Ahmed Lawan, Special Adviser to the State Governor on Security Matters, during his appearance on the program “Nigeria A Yau,” alongside members of the Radio Writers and Listeners Club.

“Nigeria A Yau,” a Hausa-language program, offers insightful analyses of newspapers and current affairs, particularly catering to grassroots listeners.

Its contribution to enhancing security awareness in the state has not gone unnoticed, earning recognition from various stakeholders.

At a ceremony highlighting the program’s achievements, the Radio Writers and Listeners Club presented awards of excellence to the hosts of “Nigeria A Yau” and to Alhaji Ahmed Lawan himself.

The adviser was honored for his proactive interventions, notably his recent efforts to mediate conflicts between farmers and herders in the Namtari area.

In his remarks, Lawan expressed gratitude to Radio Nigeria for its commitment to educating and enlightening the public on governance and critical issues such as health, agriculture, and security.

He emphasized the importance of responsible land use, urging farmers to avoid cultivating in grazing reserves and advising herders against migrating with cattle during farming seasons.

Lawan noted a decline in disputes between farmers and herders, attributing the remaining conflicts primarily to land issues.

He stressed that land boundary matters should be referred to the appropriate authorities, as only the government has the jurisdiction to resolve such disputes.

The General Manager of Radio Nigeria Fombina FM, Alhaji Dahiru Garba Mohammed appreciated the Radio Writers Club for the recognition and highlighted the importance of listener feedback in shaping program content.

He noted that although Hausa is not indigenous to Adamawa, it has become the primary language of media communication in the state, enabling better engagement with the audience.

Mohammed congratulated the Radio Writers Club for their foresight in honoring Ahmed Lawan and applauded the state government for its ongoing efforts to resolve conflicts between farmers and herders, thereby ensuring a safer environment for all residents.

The Chairman of the Radio Writers and Listeners Club, Alhaji Manu Poster, also commended the management of Fombina FM and the “Nigeria A Yau” team for their dedication to promoting peace and security in the state.

A highlight of the event was the presentation of the Excellence Awards to “Nigeria A Yau” and Special Adviser Ahmed Lawan, in recognition of their significant contributions to the community.
