Organisation for Innovative and Sustainable Development OISD has urged women journalists in Gombe State to exhibit a high sense of professionalism in the discharge of their duties.

The Executive Director of the organisation Dr Jamil Yusuf, made the call during the opening of a three-day training organised for female journalists in Gombe State.

The training titled “SHE EXISTS” is in collaboration with Organisations for Sustainable Development through the American Embassy Public Affairs section in partnership with NAWOJ.

Dr Jamil Yusuf said the role of journalists is pivotal as truth seekers and guardians of shared narratives, explaining that when women thrive in the media, society will benefit from a richer, more diverse and inclusive discourse.

He therefore called on the participants to embrace the training with open minds, to collaborate and inspire one another to emerge champions of equity, truth and a brighter future.

Some of the Participants interviewed after the training Rebecca Caleb from Gombe Media Cooperation and Fatiya Auwal from the NTA described the training as apt considering the challenges women face in society today.

Papers presented at the training/interactive session include;
-Gender equality/equity
-Ethics of sexual and Gender based reporting by Leslie Jonah,
-Application of ICT in modern media by Ernest Ogezi,
-Reporting women in violent conflict situations by Ofu Emmanuel,
-How represented is the Nigerian woman in the news by Mathew Eloyi,
-And Importance of women in Nigerian media by Ibrahim Abubakar.
