The Government Science Secondary School Darazo Old Students Class of 1980 set (Mandilas, 80) have been enjoined to extend hands of fellowship and champion the course of giving back to their alma mater.
The Interim Chairman of the Association Mr John Mato made the appeal during the Special reunion meeting of the set held at the Federal Polytechnic Bauchi.
Mr John Mato explained that the essence of the meeting of Mandilas 80 is to reflects, rekindles memories and chat a way forward for the progress of the association.
He identified lack of active members’ participation and poor financial commitment of some members as some of the factors that slow down the progress of the association.
The Interim Chairman emphasized that other sets of the school have achieved milestone in giving back to their alma mater, hence the need for the members of the 1980 set to emulate for the development of the school.
“We can not build or sustain a legacy with half hearted involvement”. He said.
Mr Mato assured that the meeting of the set would be on regular basis to enable them share ideas and support other members that are in need.
He commended all members who are working tirelessly towards the actualization of Mandilas 80 noble objectives and urged them to sustain the tempo.
In a presentation titled, Class Mate a Blessing or a Curse, Kefas Magaji Esq said a Class Mate is a dependable ally in time of need.
Kefas Magaji who is also the Chairman Bauchi State Fertilizer Company emphasized that reunion is an avenue to enrich the existing cordial relationship amongst members.
Radio Nigeria Globe FM reporter Ishaq Haruna Hardawa observes that some of the old students of the 1980 set in attendance include Ambassador Lawal Bappah, Alhaji Aliyu Suleman Hardawa, Dr Chris Okolo, Barrister Nasir Jambil, Mr Joseph Barnabas, the Village Head of Katsinawa Alhaji Adamu Hamza, among others.
