NITDA Trains 250 police personnel on cyber security in Gombe

In a proactive move to fortify the digital defenses of the Gombe State Police Command, the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has recently conducted an intensive five-day training program on cybersecurity and cybercrime prevention.
The training is a collaboration between NITDA and the law enforcement agencies, aiming to equip 250 police personnel with the knowledge and skills needed to combat the escalating challenges posed by cyber threats.
Speaking at the event, the Gombe State Commissioner of Police CP Aqua Etim, said the urgency of such training is needed in light of the increasing sophistication of cyber threats faced by law enforcement agencies.
According to the commissioner, the collaboration with NITDA is a significant milestone in staying ahead of criminals who exploit technology for malicious purposes.
In his response, the Deputy Manager of Cyber security at NITDA, Abdulmalik Abubakar, said expertise and dedication have played a pivotal role in tailoring the program to address the specific needs of the Gombe State Police Command.
He stated that the collaboration represents a fusion of technological expertise adding that their goal is to empower officers to be vigilant and guardians of cyber security within their communities.
The comprehensive training program covered a wide array of topics, including the fundamentals of cyber security, cyber threat intelligence, digital forensics, and strategies for combating various forms of cybercrime.
At the end of the 5-day training, participants went through Practical sessions which allowed them to apply theoretical knowledge of real-world scenarios, providing a hands-on learning experience that is crucial in effectively countering digital threats.
