Bauchi Communities Get Water Project By USAID, WCS Nigeria

People of Fanti and Badara communities of Alkaleri local government area of Bauchi State have expressed satisfaction over the drilling and rehabilitation of boreholes by a Non-Governmental Organization, Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) Nigeria.
They made their feelings known during the inauguration of the water project, held in the communities.
The nine rehabilitated boreholes project was funded by USAID through WCS Nigeria and handed over to the communities.
The Village Head of Fanti, Adamu Sulaiman and that of Badara Umar Danladi Mu’azu expressed delight that the water project would reduce the hardship being experienced.
They appreciated USAID and WCS Nigeria for the gesture and promised to ensure total protection of the facilities provided to them.
Some women interviewed, Zahariya Yakubu and Lami Hasimu said in the past it took them a very long journey to get drinking water but the intervention of the USAID and WCS Nigeria has put a smile on their faces.
Earlier the Country Director, WCS Nigeria Mr. Andrew Dunn said the organization identified needs of the communities and executed the projects as part of its corporate social responsibility.
While handing over the projects to the benefiting communities, Mr. Dunn said the borehole has five fetching points with six taps each.
The handover event was witnessed by the management of Yankari Games Reserve, Partners for Development among others.
The electrical motorized borehole was rehabilitated and converted to Solar Motorized under the Watershed Protection for Safe and Sustainable Water Supply Activity funded by the USAID.
