Adamawa State Government has commenced the 2026–2028 multi-year budget defence, reaffirming its commitment to the principles of fiscal prudence, transparency, and accountability in the development of Adamawa State.
Declaring the exercise open, the Commissioner of the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, Emmanuel Pridimso, said the budget is more than just a financial document; it is a strategic blueprint that translates the Adamawa State Government’s vision and policy objectives into tangible projects and services for the Residents.
The Commissioner added that the multi-year recurrent budget discussion will lay the foundation for the state’s progress over the next three years.
“This multi-year framework provides us with a unique opportunity. It allows us to move beyond a single-year perspective and engage in long-term strategic planning. We can better align our resources with our long-term goals, ensure the continuity of critical projects, and plan for future challenges and opportunities with greater foresight,” he said.
Pridimso urged all discussions to be guided by the principles of fiscal prudence, transparency, and accountability. He called on participants to critically evaluate proposals, prioritize projects with the highest impact, and ensure that every naira is allocated efficiently and effectively.
According to him, all apparatus are operating under the mandate of the Executive Governor to ensure transparency and provide the dividends of democracy to the people of the state.
He encouraged all ministries, departments, and agencies to participate actively and constructively, describing the process as a collaborative effort that requires the collective wisdom and expertise of everyone present.
The Commissioner also urged participants to engage in robust and honest dialogue, share insights, and work together to build a budget that is not only ambitious but also realistic and sustainable for the residents of Adamawa State.
Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Strategy, Solomon Kumangar, said the budget defence is part of the process established by the Fintiri-led administration to ensure transparency and accountability, guided by the philosophy that no one is left behind and nothing is left untouched.
“and if you look at the system that has been adopted, it follows best international practices whereby budgets extend beyond a one-year fiscal cycle to a three-year medium-term expenditure framework,” .
Kumangar explained that the key physical infrastructural developments in the state are clear indications of ease of access to funds, as well as effective monitoring and evaluation of all projects in Adamawa.
Representatives of various ministries, departments, and agencies, as well as civil society organizations, were present to witness the budget defence process.
