As part of its efforts to transform the media sector, the Yobe State Government has organised a three-day capacity-building workshop for executive members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in the state.
Speaking at the event held in Kano, Commissioner for Home Affairs, Information, and Culture, Abdullahi Bego, said the workshop aimed to enhance the skills of media professionals in Yobe State.
According to Bego, the training is part of the state government’s efforts to transform the sector into modern-day journalism.
He noted that the Yobe State Government, under the leadership of Governor Mai Mala Buni, has prioritised capacity building for civil servants, political appointees, and other stakeholders, including journalists.
The commissioner pointed out that the Buni administration’s vision is centred on inclusive, broad-based socio-economic development of Yobe State, guided by the principles of continuity, consolidation, and innovation.
He added that the training workshop, which consists of executive members of all NUJ chapels in the state, is expected to improve the professionalism of journalists in Yobe, enabling them to effectively discharge their duties and contribute to the state’s development.
