In continuation of her two-day working visit to Gombe State, the First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has officially commissioned the newly constructed 100-bed capacity ultra-modern Mother and Child Specialist Hospital in Gombe.

The hospital, named in her honour, was established through the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as part of efforts to strengthen healthcare infrastructure across the country.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Senator Tinubu said the hospital has opened doors to life, hope, and a brighter future for women and children in Gombe and beyond.

She emphasized that maternal and child health remains a key priority under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which seeks to ensure that every Nigerian child enjoys a healthy start in life.

According to her, the facility will provide quality healthcare services, help reduce maternal and infant mortality, and bring relief to countless families.

The First Lady expressed profound gratitude to Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, his wife, Hajiya Asma’u Inuwa Yahaya, and the people of Gombe for naming the hospital after her. She also commended the Governor’s sustained commitment to healthcare development in the state.

In his remarks, Governor Inuwa Yahaya said the cooperation between the Federal Ministry of Health, the Gombe State Government, and various development partners has greatly contributed to improving healthcare delivery services across the state.

He noted that the collaboration represents a significant milestone in Gombe’s commitment to sustainable healthcare development and the synergy between federal and state health initiatives.

Also speaking, the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Muhammad Ali Pate, lauded Governor Yahaya’s administration for its remarkable strides in transforming the health sector and improving citizens’ access to quality medical services.

On her part, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on SDGs, Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, said the project underscores Nigeria’s commitment to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 3, which focuses on good health and well-being.
