Women groups in Toro Local Government Area of Bauchi State have commended the impact of CASCADE’s Social Analysis and Action (SAA) programme, pledging to sustain the positive lessons learnt for community development.

At the SAA graduation ceremony held at Muda Lawal Hall in Toro, members of Village Savings and Loans Associations (VSLAs) across communities said the programme taught them household dialogue, healthy living, and cultivating nutritious food for family consumption.

Participants, including Abigail John, Fatima Sulaiman, and Jummai Ishaku from Alheri VSLA in Rimin Ziyam, said their families had adopted tolerance, unity, and husbands’ participation in domestic chores.

Another beneficiary, Hauwa Tukur from Jangadi, testified that she embraced exclusive breastfeeding practices through the training, noting that her baby rarely falls ill since she started.

The women groups expressed appreciation to CASCADE for mentoring and empowering them, assuring the sustainability of the positive practices promoted under the SAA initiative in their communities.

Gender Technical Officer, CASCADE, Ms Ann Alberta Bot, expressed satisfaction that the eighty-four women from nine VSLA groups have shown enthusiasm to practice the knowledge gained from the training, assuring continued monitoring to ensure compliance with the SAA model.

Toro local government’s Nutrition Officer, Bala Mohammed, and Cooperatives Officer, Abdullahi Sama’ila, stressed that continued sensitisation was vital to breaking sociocultural barriers limiting women’s access to health care and economic advancement.
