NNPC Foundation Trains Vulnerable Farmers On Modern Farming Techniques In the North East

Over 11,000 vulnerable farmers have been equipped with modern farming techniques through an initiative supported by the NNPC Foundation Ltd/Gte in all the geopolitical zones of the Country.

flagging off the programme in two different locations for the northeast region , Potiskum in Yobe State and Kaltingo in Gombe State, the Managing Director NNPC Foundation Mrs. Emmanuella Arukwe, reaffirmed the company’s shared commitment to securing Nigeria’s food future and uplift rural communities.

According to her, the programme aims to equip vulnerable farmers especially women and youths, with practical skills and market knowledge that would move households from subsistence to sustainable income and greater resilience.

Represented by the Executive Director Programme Development, NNPC Foundation Dr. Bala David, Mrs Arukwe highlights the initiative’s commitment to national development that goes beyond energy.

Shee explained that recently, farmers empowerment and training was conducted in other geopolitical zones of the country and With the completion of the North-East phase, about 11,000 farmers were trained.

The modules covered according to her include climate-smart agriculture, soil management, post-harvest handling, financial literacy, cooperative formation, and the use of digital tools for market access.

The NNPC Foundation expresses its appreciation to government partners, traditional leaders, facilitators, and developmental partners, for their support which makes the training possible and sustainable.

Some of the participants Martina Yuhanna and Baturiya Dogon Yaro thanked NNPC Foundation for the training and the resource persons for their time and the knowledge impacted on them.

They called on Yobe State Government to intensify its efforts in terms of supporting small scale farmers, to achieve a hunger free society.

The event held at the banquet hall of the Federal College of Education Potiskum was attended by traditional and religious leaders,Youth, Women and other members of the society.

He said the Yobe state government is open to accept every form of humanitarian intervention in sectors like education, healthcare, agriculture and other areas of interest.
