The Dangote Sugar Refinery, DSR Numan has flagged off a 5-day wellness campaign targeting at least 1,000 children across host communities of Numan, Demsa, Lamurde, Shelleng and Guyuk local government areas.
In his remarks during the flag off ceremony which took place at Demsa cottage hospital, the Group General Manager Operation, Mallam Bello Danmusa said the medical outreach is part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability initiatives focused on promoting good health and well-being of the children.
Danmusa said the Back-to-School Medical Outreach is an initiative of the company, supported by the Chairmen of the five Local Government Areas of the Numan Federation and the Adamawa State Ministry of Health and Human Services.
The exercise will provide free medical checks, health consultations, deworming, nutritional advice and other health education sessions to children from 3 to 15 years, aimed at ensuring that the children are in good health and better prepared for their academic activities.
Danmusa explained that referral cases will be handled, with the company covering the bills of affected children.
He also reiterated the company’s readiness to partner with government and relevant stakeholders to strengthen the health sector.
Commissioner for Health, Felix Tangwami represented by Director of Admin, Malam Abubakar iya Hamid commended the management of Dangote Sugar Refinery, describing the gesture as being in line with the fintiri administration’s vision of engancing the healthcare sector.
Head of Dangote Medical outreach, Doctor Tanko said the exercise is timely as children resume schools, stressing that the importance of their wellbeing cannot be overemphasized.
He therefore urged parents and guardians of the host communities to reciprocate the gesture by bringing their children for medical attention.
Stakeholders who attended the flag off ceremony appreciated Dangote Sugar Refinery, describing the gesture as move in the right direction toward ensuring the wellbeing of children who are the leaders of tomorrow.
