Shehu of Bama commends Military for the restoration and sustainance of peace in Bama.

The Shehu of Bama Umar Ibn Kyari Umar Elkanemi has commended the Nigerian Military and other Security Agencies involved in the Counter Insurgency and Terrorism Operations for the restoration and sustenance of peace to Bama which culminated in the full resettlement of Bama origins to their ancestral homes as well as as the resumption of Civil authorities.

The Shehu gave the commendation while speaking with Newsmen immediately after a Courtesy visit by FAO team at his Palace in Bama, the headquarters of Bama local government area of Borno State.

His highness Umar Ibn Kyari Umar Elkanemi explained that he and his subjects were living comfortably without any security threat or uncertainties, courtesy of the gallantry and execution of the constitutional duties by the Security forces.

He said People of Bama and its adjourning Communities could now be able to engage in farming and other economic activities, Schools, hospitals, and other public institutions are all operational.

The Shehu of Bama used to medium and called on his People to always be law abiding and participate in the ongoing continues Voter registration exercise especially for those whi doesn’t have their PVC.

He also commended Tinubu/Shettima led administration for their support to Bama local government and for the proposal of many People oriented projects to Bama and other parts of the State.

Alhaji Umar Ibn Kyari Umar Elkanemi noted, he could not described the quantum of commitment, support and mentorship accorded to him and his entire Subjects by Governor Baba Gana Umara Zulum which he prayed Almighty Allah to guide and protect the Governor.

Earlier during the visit by FAO team, the Executive Director Global Environmental Response Initiative (GERI), the focal NGO ACReSAL Borno, Dr Alhaji Ngare Dogo informed the Shehu about the purpose of the visit by FAO team to Bama which is the restoration of degraded lands which in turn support agricultural activities.

Speaking on behalf of National Project Coordinator ACReSAL, Expert Advisor to ACReSAL Project Abuja, Musa Shuaibu said a total of 152 hectares of land have been put in place to realised neem and other economic trees.

Mr Musa Shuaibu added that FAO in collaboration with ACReSAL pledged to restore back the degraded lands across 19 Northern States including Federal Capital Territory as they have already put in place 350,000 hectares of land for a robust afforestation.

FAO team lead, Engineer Dr Precious Agbesor said the support of the royal Father was a Paramount to achieve the desired objectives, hence the need for it.

Shehu Umar Ibn Kyari Umar Elkanemi expressed appreciation for FAO and its partners for the intervention and appeal to them to extend capacity building for Bama farming Community as well as the Community Interest Group (CIGs) managing the FAO project on modern techniques of farming.

The Shehu therefore decorated each Member of the FAO team with branded traditional Kanuri attire with new Cap to serve as a reference for the rememberance of Bama.
