JGSG Appeals To Tinubu For Completion Of Hadejia Valley Trimming Projects

Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa has appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to complete the remaining 25% of the Hadejia River Valley Trimming projects in Jigawa state.

He stated this at the official flag off of the 2023 dry season wheat development project under the national agricultural growth scheme in Kadume, Hadejia local government area of the state.

He emphasized the critical role hadejia river valley projects plays in enhancing food security across the nation.

According to him, the uncompleted portion, covering over 60,000 hectares, had been abandoned since the late President Shehu Shagari’s administration in the 1980s.

Mallam Umar Namadi pointed out that, besides lifting thousands out of poverty, the project’s completion aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s food security agenda and the state 12 point agenda.

Earlier, the Minister of Agriculture and food security, Senator Abubakar Kyari commended Jigawa state for utilizing 40,000 hectares out of the allocated 100,000 for the 2023 dry season wheat project by the federal government.

Kyari, pledged continued federal government support to farmers, emphasizing the commitment to fortifying food security and empowering the youth demographic across the country.
