In a bid to prioritize healthcare delivery, the Adamawa State Government says it will create a healthier, safer, and more resilient state where no one is left behind.
Deputy Governor of Adamawa State, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, disclosed this at the official commissioning and handing over of nine newly constructed health facilities across Adamawa by the International Organization for Migration, funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency, in collaboration with the State Primary Healthcare Development Agency.
Professor Kaletapwa Farauta explained that the facilities were delivered under the project titled “Accelerating Access to Basic Services for Internally Displaced Persons, Returnees, and Host Communities in the North-East Region.”
According to her, the project will remain a top priority of Governor Fintiri’s administration, stressing that significant investments have been made across the primary, secondary, and tertiary health sub-sectors.
Professor Farauta, however, emphasized that such initiatives will help reach more internally displaced persons, returnees, and host communities who share similar needs.
The Deputy Governor, therefore, expressed gratitude to development partners and called for further collaboration and the scaling up of such projects and similar interventions.
The Chief of Mission, IOM, Sharon Dimanche, appreciated the Japanese Government for its funding support and the Government of Adamawa for demonstrating commitment to developmental projects, advocating for sustained collaboration for greater gains.
She explained that the facilities would provide essential health services, especially in maternal and child care, stressing that the project symbolizes hope and healing.
The representative of the Commissioner for Health, Chief Felix Tangwami, and the Chairman, Adamawa State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr. Suleiman Saidu Bashir, said the project will go down in memory as it will further strengthen health services.
They noted that it complements the developmental drive of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri in key spheres of human endeavor, assuring that the intervention holds great opportunities and potential.
Also speaking, the Hama Bachama, Homun Daniel Ismaila Shagah, represented by the District Head of Gyawana, Dr. Agiso Bamaiyi, explained that the project is a vital facility that represents hope, passion, and beneficial partnership, adding that it will bring essential healthcare services closer to the people.
Some of the beneficiaries of the project appreciated the facilitators for the gesture and expressed hope for more interventions in the future.
