The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has reaffirmed its commitment to providing assistance to communities affected by disasters, war, or other crises in Yobe State.
The Communications Officer of the organization in Yobe, Mr. Usman Kundili, made this known at a three-day emergency response workshop, organized by the ICRC for journalists in Potiskum, aimed at equipping them with skills to support their communities.
The workshop focus on emergency response and protecting journalists in challenging environments, such as conflict zones or disaster areas.
Kundili clarified that the ICRC wasn’t founded on religious grounds, emphasizing the organization’s commitment to humanitarian values.
In their presentations, Dr. Godfrey Shaibu, and Dr. Samaila Garba, encouraged participants to focus more attention on practical skills, saying that equipping journalists with rescue skills will benefit the entire community, especially during emergencies.
