NEDC Provides Humanitarian Support to 38,000 Vulnerable Children in Yobe

38,000 vulnerable children in Tsangaya and Almajiri Schools across the 17 Local Government Areas of Yobe State, have benefited from the humanitarian support provided by the North East Development Commission (NEDC) in collaboration with the State Government.

The Managing Director and CEO of NEDC, Mohammed Goni Alkali, stated this during a symbolic presentation of the items to representatives of the Tsangaya and Almajiri Schools in Buni Yadi, Gujba Local Government Area.

Represented by Yobe State Coordinator of NEDC, Professor Ali Ibrahim Abbas, Mohammed Goni Alkali, said the intervention aims to modernize the living conditions of the Tsangaya and Almajiri schools to improve their learning and teaching atmosphere.

Alkali explained that the NEDC intervention target to alleviate the suffering of 38,000 pupils of the Tsangaya and Almajiri system of education in Yobe State, especially during this Hamatan season,

“Our target is to enhance the current system so that the Almajiri system of education will gradually be modernized and serve the purpose of national development.” Alkali stated.

He further commended Governor Mai Mala Buni for supporting the commission in the state to achieve it mandate.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mallam Rabiu Maibataliya of Buni Yadi expressed gratitude to NEDC and the Yobe State Government for the intervention, saying it would positively impact the lives of the Tsangaya and Almajiri students.

The items provided include a solar power borehole, blankets, and mats.
