The Independent National Electoral Commission has announced that the first phase of the nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise will end on December 10, 2025.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Yobe State, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdullahi, made this known during a press briefing in Damaturu.
According to the REC, the CVR exercise began on August 18, 2025 with online registration, followed by in-person registration a week later on August 25.
He noted that voter registration and the production of an accurate and credible register remain core responsibilities of INEC as mandated by Section 10 of the Electoral Act 2022 (as amended).
Abdullahi outlined the key activities that will follow the December deadline.
The display of the preliminary register of voters for claims and objections will take place for seven days, from December 15 to 21.
Complaints arising from the display will be handled on December 21.
The second phase of the CVR will resume on January 5, 2026.
The Residents Commissioner called on all individuals who registered during the first phase to take advantage of the display period to verify their details, including the spelling of their names, VIN numbers, wards, and any other information that may require correction.
He, therefore, urged voters to ensure that any errors are promptly reported so that the final register reflects accurate information.
The REC also expressed appreciation to stakeholders and residents of Yobe State for their continued cooperation.
He further commended the media for supporting voter education and mobilization efforts, describing journalists as “frontline partners” in strengthening Nigeria’s democratic process.
