ADAMAWA CRISIS: Government Set Up Machineries to Restore Calm in Lamurde LGA.

The Adamawa state government says all machineries have been put in place to maintain law and order in Lamurde local government area of the state after a communal conflict that claimed several lives.

The Deputy Governor of Adamawa state Professor Kaletapwa Farauta made this known during a briefing on the renewed communal crisis that led to the loss of lives and property in the local council.

Addressing newsmen in her office shortly after a meeting with service commanders, deputy governor professor Kaletapwa Farauta revealed that proper security measures and reenforcement have been made to the affected areas, and normalcy has returned.

The Deputy Governor emphasised that investigations are still ongoing to unravel the root cause of the crisis and bring perpetrators to justice.

Professor Farauta, however, called on the two warring parties to eschew violence and embrace peace, reiterating that the state government will continue to engage the citizens in peace building and meaningful change.

The crisis between the Bachama and Chobo ethnic groups have lingered for some time now, and on Monday the crisis took a new dimension when nine protesters from the Bachama extraction were shot dead allegedly by the army deployed to the area to restore peace.
