Yobe State Contributory Health Management Agency (YSCHMA) has expressed the need for collective action to ensure every individual has access to healthcare without facing financial hardship.
The Executive Secretary E.S, of YSCHMA, Dr. Babagana Tijjani, stated this at an occasion to marked this year’s Universal Health Coverage Day, in Damaturu, the state capital.
The Executive Secretary, who was represented at the event by the Director Standard Quality Assurance, Dr Isah Adamu, explained that the agency remains committed to building a resilient, equitable, and people-centred health system, aligning with the global theme “Healthy Beginning, Hopeful Future”.
Dr Tijjani pointed out that under Governor Mai Mala Buni’s leadership, Yobe State has made progress towards Universal Health Coverage, expanding coverage, strengthening verification systems, and improving provider quality assessments.
The agency has also initiated statewide validation of Basic Healthcare Provision Fund (BHCPF) and social equity enrollee data to ensure accuracy and transparency.
Dr. Tijjani called on citizens to support government efforts, enrol in the state health contributory health scheme, and take proactive steps in protecting their health and that of their families.
He, therefore, appreciated partners, including the Ministry of Health, NIIA, healthcare providers, and civil society organisations, for their support.
The event serves as a reminder of the importance of investing in health financing, strengthening primary healthcare, and promoting health-seeking behaviour to build a system where every resident of Yobe State is protected from the financial burden of illness.
