Yobe Govt’s Potiskum Truck Park Project Hits Final Stretch

As part of the ongoing media tour of key projects across Yobe State, the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Buba Kyari, has disclosed that the Potiskum Truck Transit Park is nearing completion, in line with Governor Mai Mala Buni’s post-conflict recovery and economic revitalisation agenda.

Speaking during the tour, the commissioner explained that the project has reached about 98 per cent completion, with only the accommodation block left to be finalised.

He noted that aside from this, all other components of the facility are fully intact, adding that efforts are underway to complete the dormitory in the next few days.

Arc. Kyari outlined the facilities available at the Truck Transit Park to include accommodation, warehouses comprising two blocks in Number a worship area, a washing bay, a service bay, and an expansive parking area.

According to him, the parking space covers approximately 43,000 square metres on each side, making a total of 86,000 square metres.

On the readiness of the park for use, the commissioner said the facility could be ready at any time, but commissioning by Governor Mai Mala Buni remains the final step.

He expressed optimism that all outstanding works would be concluded within the next one month.

Ach. Kyari further revealed that the park has the capacity to accommodate up to 500 trailers at a time.

A Residents of Potiskum Local Government Area and neighbouring communities have commended the Yobe State Government for executing developmental projects that directly impact their livelihoods.

Dauda Mohammed Atiyaye noted that the construction of the Truck Transit Park would address the long-standing problem of heavy-duty trucks parking within the metropolis, stressing that it would significantly reduce traffic congestion in Potiskum town.

He added that allowing trailers to park at the facility would greatly minimise the chaos often associated with indiscriminate truck parking.

Similarly, Saidu Ahmed of Maluri Village, expressed appreciation for the construction of the 25 Kilometer Fika–Maluri Road, saying the project would ease the transportation of farm produce from rural communities to urban markets.
