Nineteen Journalists from three Northeastern States of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe were insurgent activities affected the most have converged on Maiduguri, the Borno State capital for a training on the dangers of Explosive Ordinance Devices EODs.
The training will engage the participants in the production of nineteen different magazines programmes on the EODs.
Speaking at the opening session of the training, a facilitator with the BBC Media Action, Mr Jamal Robert said the training was organised to acquaint the participants with basic knowledge on the danger and precaution measures on EODs in some of the affected communities across the three states.
Jamal Lauren said the training will cover a series of lectures from experts in the field of mines to enable the participants to gain more knowledge on improvised explosive devices in view of their strategic importance to societal orientation and development.
He used the medium to challenge the media practitioners to pay attention to the technical aspect of the training to enable them step down what they would lean to the targeted audience through their contents at the various media stations.
Some of the participants interviewed, Idris Garba from Yobe State Radio Television YRTV and Yau from Dandal Kura Radio International Maiduguri expressed gratitude to BBC Media Action for organising the training and promised to work towards achieving the desired objective.
The training which is expected to last for about four weeks drew participants from media organisations to include Peace FM Maiduguri, Sunshine FM Potiskum, Wetland FM Gashuwa, Dandal Kura Radio International Maiduguri, Nas FM Yola, Jewel FM Jalingo and Yobe State Radio and Television Damaturu.
