In a bid to drive the needed public awareness on early reporting of disease outbreak during Health Emergency, Community engagement in pandemic preparedness and response programme COPPER CE has engaged key Stakeholders in Bauchi State to achieve the set goals.
Speaking at the Northeast Zonal Office of Tuberculosis Network, the Programme Coordinator Paul Balogun explain that TB Network are critical stakeholders in enlightening the public on precautionary measures and prompt response during outbreak in the Communities.
Paul Balogun said they are working toward joining TB Network into the risk communication, coalition groups, National and global platform for pandemic preparedness.
“The Voices of TB Network will be very important because it will help in sharping Community engagement from the public health aspects..”
He said TB Network joining the risk communication platform would afford them the opportunity of receiving accurate information on any disease outbreak for dissemination to public.
“So anywhere TB Network are carrying out it’s activities should be able to integrate disease outbreak precautions to all beneficiaries across the implementing areas and in this regard it will reduce the risk and then the high level of outbreak across the state…” Paul noted
According to the COPPER CE Programme Coordinator, said they are committed in addressing any challenges the Network are facing in terms of access to healthcare.
Responding the Northeast Zonal Coordinator TB Network Adam Chindo Sodangi said the Network in Bauchi State comprises of 20 CSOs members working in verious activities in the Communities
Adam Chindo Sodangi said Tuberculosis Network Joining the risk communication platform would be an added advantage in mainstreaming its activities in the Zone.
In a separate visit to the Bauchi State Coordinator Network of people living with HIV and AIDS in Nigeria, Abdullahi Ibrahim explain that, they would leverage on their established structures to cascade the required messages to the public, as NEPWHAN is currently working in five local government areas on community system strengthening in the state.
The COPPER CE Programme focused on amplifying the voices of Vulnerable Communities and increasing their participation in reporting disease outbreaks and empower key and vulnerable Population and CSOs to play active role in Pandemic Preparedness and Response efforts in the Northeast.
