International Institute of Tropical Agriculture Expresses Commitment Towards Empowering Community Base Farmers in Yobe

The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture, IITA, has expressed more commitment towards the training and support of community-based seed producers that will assist farmers to produce quality and become community entrepreneurs in seed production.

The Leader of the IITA team Aishatu Jummai Ali made this known in an exclusive interview with Radio Nigeria Sunshine FM Yobe.

She explained that the team’s visit to Potiskum Local Government in Yobe State is aimed at creating more awareness among farmers and seeds producers about its annual seed fair, which is expected to begin on 15th June 2023 in Potiskum, Nangere and Fika local government areas.

Explaining further, one of the team members and USAID representative Joseph Abikoye, said the institute has worked on producing seeds that are resistant to diseases and stringers which are spread in farmlands that use local manures.

The 3rd annual seeds fair is all set to exhibit Agricultural inputs, and chemicals and also to interact with farmers, Agro-Dealers, and Seeds Companies in the North Eastern part of the country.
