Gombe Emir bags first chancellor Northeastern University Gombe.

His Royal Highness the Emir of Gombe, Abubakar Shehu Abubakar the third, has urged the North-eastern University Gombe, to make their centre for medicinal plant research beneficial to the communities around them considering that they relay on herbs for treatment.
Alhaji Abubakar Shehu Abubakar, said the University has One of the best laboratory in the country with adequate research equipment that can scientifically identify the importance of any herb not only in Nigeria but in Africa and the world at large.
The Gombe emir stated this at his Palace while receiving appointment letter as chancellor of the North-eastern University by the Pro-chancellor, Vice Chancellor and members of the board of trustees of the University.
In his speech the chairman board of trustee North-eastern University, Alhaji Umaru Maigari said having emir of Gombe as Chancellor will reinforced the activities of the steering commitment of the university community.
In a remark by the Pro-chancellor, Professor Sani Jauro, described the Chancellor as somebody who is well respected in the society and had passion for education, human development and justice.
Also speaking a member of the board of trustee, Auwal Babayo Shehu, called on parents of students to keep doing the needful for the betterment of their children and the society, adding that their first Chancellor possesses all the qualities required.
