Nasarawa State Police Command has re-stated its commitment to partner with the Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ in tackling insecurity in the state.
The State Police Commissioner CP Shetima Mohammed Jauro stated this during a meeting with members of NUJ held at the Force headquarters in lafia the State Capital..
The State Police Commissioner said the police would leverage the journalists, given their significant role in crime prevention through adequate reporting.
CP Shattima Mohammed Jauro emphasized the importance of the collaboration in addressing security challenges, stating that the media plays a crucial role in shaping public perception and influencing behavior.
The Commissioner of Police assured that they would work closely with journalists to provide timely and accurate information on security matters.
“Your job is important to the success of our work because you help inform the public about our achievements and expose crimes as well as alert the society about early signals for prompt action,” he said.
The CP assured NUJ of total support and sought their input on how to improve policing strategies to defeat criminal and warned criminals to desist or run as there would be no hiding place for them in the State.
On his part, the State Chairman of the NUJ comrade Mohammed Salihu Alkali pledged the union’s support for the partnership, stating that journalists are committed to responsible reporting and are willing to work with the police to promote peace and security.
He added that the partnership is expected to enhance the flow of information between the police and the public as well as commended the police for their efforts in maintaining law and order in the state.
