Yobe State Government, ActionAid, WFP Partner for Inclusive Budget Process

Yobe State Governor, Hon Mai Mala Buni, said his administration will always maintain an open door policy in conducting its activities, which serves as a strong basis for mutual understanding between the people and the Government.

The Governor gave the assurance at an occasion tagged Stakeholders Budget Dialogue and Citizen Engagement in the preparation for the 2025 annual budget organised by ActionAid Nigeria, in collaboration with the World Food Programme (WFP) and the Yobe State Ministry of Budget and Planning held in Damaturu.

Governor Mai Mala Buni, represented at the occasion by his Deputy, Alhaji Idi Barde Gubana, commended organisers of the event for taking the initiative to reflect the voices of the common man and including their actual yearning and aspirations in budget preparation and implementation.

He explained that his administration is always ready to welcome ideas that will help in transforming the state.

“The remarkable achievements we have recorded so far in the areas of road construction, building of modern markets, educational development, standard healthcare delivery, agricultural revitalization, provision of decent and affordable houses and other drives were all dependent on good budget formulation and implementation of which all good people of Yobe State have immensely contributed to”.

In a remark, the Humanitarian and Resilience Manager of ActionAid Nigeria, David Habba, represented by the Project Manager, Kenneth Unuafe, explained that ActionAid has recognised that food security and livelihood interventions must extend beyond mere material support.

“While enhancing access to food and livelihoods is vital, we cannot overlook the importance of protection and social cohesion”.

Mr Habba states that ActionAid Nigeria, through collaborative efforts, aims to continue to create community-tailored social cohesion and protection programmes that restore community structures and promote peaceful coexistence.

He further expressed his organisation’s commitment to continue partnering with Yobe State towards addressing the humanitarian challenges.

The Permanent Secretary of State Ministry of Budget and Planning, Alhaji Hamidu, commended the developmental partners for always supporting the state and further assured that the ministry will ensure transparency and Accountability in the budget implementation process.
