Bauchi JNC constitutes New National Minimum Wage Technical Implementation Committee.

The Joint Negotiation Council JNC which comprises of the Nigerian Labour Congress NLC and the Trade Union Congress, TUC has inaugurated a Technical Committee to ensure the implementation of the 2024 National Minimum Wage Act by the Bauchi State government.
The 13-man Technical Committee which drew its membership from the 12 different salary structures in the state is expected to review and harmonize existing salaries in the state.
The State JNC Chairman, Comrade Dauda Maidara Shu’aibu gave the indication during a Press Conference on the issue of implementation of the 2024 New National Minimum Wage Act in Bauchi.
Comrade Dauda Shu’aibu who doubles as the State NLC Chairman, said the terms of reference of the committee include review of all the existing salary structures and harmonising them into a single workable template for onward transmission to Governor Bala Mohammed for consideration and subsequent implementation.
He said the National Councils of the NLC and TUC recently organized a 2-day training on the strategies and methodologies of conducting minimum wage negotiations at the state and local governments’ levels towards achieving the set objectives.
The State JNC Chairman observed that the Bauchi has 12 salary table structures, and the committee will co-opt a representative from each of the structures towards the successful adoption and implementation of the new national minimum wage act in the state.
Comrade Dauda who noted that majority of civil servants in the state are facing untold hardship due to rising inflation as a result of removal of fuel subsidy, expressed hope that the committee will work tirelessly and submit its report to the state Joint Negotiation Council for onward transmission to the government.
The Technical Committee on the implementation of the 2024 New national minimum wage has one week to submit its findings.
