In its continued efforts to build the capacity of the Media workers,
the Yobe State Government, in collaboration with the Multisectoral Crisis Recovery Project (MCRP), a World Bank initiative, has organized a five-day capacity-building training for 115 media practitioners.

The training, held at the Grand Central Hotel in Kano, aimed to enhance the skills of Information Officers and media producers in development communication, content creation, and media crisis management.

The participants were drawn from various state ministries, departments, agencies, and local government areas, as well as broadcasters and social media influencers.

Flagging off the workshop, the Yobe State Commissioner for Home Affairs, Information, and Culture, Abdullahi Bego,
urged the participants to utilize the knowledge acquired to make a positive impact in their communities.

The Commissioner commended MCRP for partnering with the state government to provide opportunities for media operators and content creators.

In an address of welcome, the state project coordinator for MCRP, Musa Idi Jidawa, said the training is part of the collaborative efforts between Yobe and MCRP to support the recovery and development of Yobe State, which has been affected by the insurgency.

He explained that the project aims to promote economic growth, improve infrastructure, and enhance the capacity of state institutions.

The State Coordinator MCRP added that the initiatives demonstrate the importance of investing in the development of media practitioners to promote effective communication and storytelling.

The Lead Facilitator, Dr Olusoji Adeniyi, said the training is the paradigm shift in managing information media, social media and the entire media communication strategy.

Dr Adeniyi explained that the Project is the development that MCRP has brought to the state.

He added that it can only be sustained when people in the media understand how to tell stories about that development.

Some of the participants, Yusuf Bukar of Yobe Radio, Mohammed Gambo of Yobe Television and Yusuf Maina, a social media influencer, have commended the Yobe Government and MCRP for organising the training, saying it would positively impact their reportage.
