Plant Trees To Address Desertification and Erosion.

People of Bauchi state have been encouraged to plant trees in their domains to address desertification and erosion in the state.
The Director General of the National Agency for the Great Green Wall, GGW Dr Yusuf Maina Bukar gave the encouragement at the launch of the Great Green Wall Day celebration in Bauchi said planting trees will address degradation, desertification, and other environmental problems.
Dr Yusuf Maina Bukar represented by Deputy Head of Reform Coordination of the Agency Mrs Tani Andanosi said the Great Green Wall Day GGWD celebrated on the 13th of July every year coupled with tree-planting activities and Bauchi State is one of the eleven frontline states in the country enjoying its support.
Dr Yusuf Maina Bukar hinted that the choice of secondary schools for the launching of the Day is to instill a love for nature in the students’ minds.
Also speaking to commemorate the day, the Bauchi state Field Officer for the Agency, Hajiya Hadiza Muhammad said this year is the first time of celebrating the day, calling on other countries to key into tree planting in other to have a sustainable environment.
Hajiya Hadiza Muhammad expressed commitment of planting 2.5 million trees yearly across the country.
Some students from Dolphin Maria College, a school that benefited from seedlings donations, Maryam Muhammad Galadima and Abdulhamid Salihu Hamideen expressed delight for the gesture and promised to plant trees of their own.
The National Agency for the Great Green Wall GGW planted trees In Bauchi Government House, Bauchi Emier Palace, ministries, among others.
