Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has inaugurated the second edition of the Gombe State Security Summit.
The summit aims to engage key stakeholders in finding solutions to security challenges in the state and the North-East region.
In his address, Governor Inuwa Yahaya reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to security and peace, highlighting persistent issues such as farmer-herder clashes, communal disputes, and emerging threats like banditry and kidnapping.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya called for collective action among security agencies, traditional leaders, civil society, and other stakeholders to address the challenges.
He also emphasized youth engagement, warning against drug abuse and stressing the need for education and skill development.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya Commended President Bola Tinubu and the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, for their efforts in combating insecurity,
The governor announced the donation of 50 operational vehicles to security agencies to strengthen crime-fighting efforts.
The summit featured presentations on technology in security and community policing by retired security experts, while the Commissioner of Internal Security, Col. Abdullahi Bello (rtd), described the event as a major step in enhancing stability in Gombe.
Highlight of the event was the unveiling of the operational vehicles and the symbolic handover of keys to security agencies.
Themed of the Summit is “Building a Safer and More Secure Gombe State: Addressing Insecurity through Collective Action,”
