Gov. Buni Assents 216.9B 2024 Appropriation Bills

Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni has signed the 2024 appropriation and finance bills into law, with the sum of Two Hundred and Sixteen Billion, Nine Hundred and Fifty Million Naira.

Assenting the bills at the government house Damaturu, target tagged “budget for consolidation and economic recovery”, Governor Mai Mala Buni reassured that the 2024 budget will focus on the completion of all ongoing projects and funding of new ones thereby prioritizing key sectors and programmes that directly impact on the lives of the citizens.

“Provision of Roads and other basic infrastructure for multi percentage will continue to be given priority attention, we will ensure the completion of Potiskum and Geidam modern market, Potiskum trailer park, Damaturu mega shopping mold as well as rehabilitation, upgrading, and capitalization of government own companies among others”, Buni added.

The Governor expressed appreciation to the members of the State House of Assembly for their continued support, cooperation, and diligence in ensuring the timely passage of the 2024 budget.

He explains that working in cordial relationships between the Executive and Legislative arms will help serve the people of the state better.

Speaking earlier, the Speaker Yobe House of Assembly Hon. Chiroma Buba Mashio, called on all the stakeholders to continue to emphasize self-disciplined and strict budget control through adherence to financial instructions, transparency, accountability, and good governance.

The Speaker commended the governor for the support and cooperation and adequate funding receiving by the house which makes all the success witnessed recently in reality.

“I, therefore, wish on behalf of the Legislative Arms assure you of our continue support, cooperation and partnership in order to provide good governance and development of our dear state” Mashio said.

He added that the house will not relent in its efforts to see to the full implementation of the appropriation law through effective budget oversight.
