Gombe inaugurates Committee on cattle route grazing reserves

In an effort to to bring lasting solution to the herders/farmers clashes, Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has inaugurated a Committee on cattle routes, grazing reserves in the state.

Speaking at the occasion, the Governor informed that, for many years, cattle routes, grazing and forest reserves have long been the part of the cherished natural endowment that heavily contribute to rich agricultural heritage.

According to him, for many years the encroachment upon these lands has posed serious threat to their existence, threatening ecological balance and the livelihoods of both farmers and herders among others.

To this end, his administration has inaugurated this Committee under the leadership of AIG Zubairu Muazu, with a view to bring a lasting solution towards herders/farmers clashes across Gombe state.

Similarly, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa also inaugurated a visitation panel to all state owned institutions of learning with a view to ensure efficient and transparent management of the tertiary institutions in the state.

While speaking shortly after the inauguration, the Governor said the decision to constitute these panels is borne out of his firm desire to ensure accountability and improving access to higher education in Gombe state.

According to him it is against this backdrop and in compliance with extant laws leading to constitute visitation panels for the following institutions which includes Gombe State university, Gombe State Polytechnic, Bajoga, Gombe State College of Education Billiri, Gombe State College of Education and Legal Studies Nafadah, and Gombe State College of Health Science and Technology Kaltungo.
