The Bauchi State Health Contributory Management Agency (BASHCMA) has increased the number of beneficiaries under its scheme in Alkaleri West Ward from 240 to 390.

The Executive Secretary of BASHCMA, Alhaji Ibrahim Inuwa, disclosed this during an inspection of the ongoing update and enrolment of indigent and vulnerable persons under the Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF) component of the scheme.

Our health correspondent, Murtala Muhammad, reports that the BHCPF is a Federal Government programme with counterpart contribution from the states, designed to provide free healthcare services to vulnerable Nigerians.

Alhaji Ibrahim Inuwa explained that the increase was necessary in view of the ward’s population, noting that it aligns with the objectives of the scheme.

He commended all staff of the BASHCMA, especially the ICT officers for their unwavering commitment towards ensuring that only eligible persons are enrolled.

In their separate remarks, the Chairman of the Ward Development Committee (WDC), Sunusi Lawal, and the Alkaleri West’s Women Leader, Hadiza Garba, commended the Executive Secretary for expanding the number of beneficiaries.

They expressed optimism that the move would significantly improve healthcare access for residents.

Radio Nigeria reports that one of the key objectives of BASHCMA was to minimise financial burdens on individuals by providing affordable health insurance options.
