Laboratory Scientists Urged To Be Dedicated To Duty

Medical Laboratory Scientists have been urged to be disciplined, dedicated and have the fear God while discharging their duties.

The Chairman Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists (ALMS), Kano State Chapter, Comrade Abubakar Tukur made the call during an orientation for new Medical Laboratory Science students, on internship at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH).

He said the call wa necessary in view of the vital role they play in the evaluation of diseases and guidance in diagnoses. In a remark, the Deputy Director, Medical Laboratory Scientists, Dr. Nasiru Magaji, who is also the Officer In-charge of Microbiology Laboratory in AKTH, said careful handling of microbiology laboratories, lead to production of accurate result of samples.

He warned the students on the dangers of producing results that does not reach incubation period, noting that any laboratory result produced in a rush, would likely end up misleading the clinician, the pharmacist, as well as exposing the patient to unpleasant condition.

Comenting, the Deputy Director Information and Public Relations Unit of AKTH, Hauwa Muhammad Abdullahi emphasized the need for the interns to be humble, while communicating with clients and patients’ relative, with a view to portraying good image of the hospital. She advised the Interns to be conversant about AKTH rules and regulations, its mission and vision, departments among others.

The Chairman of ALMS, AKTH branch Muhammad Kabir, assured the interns of their guidance throughout the one year training and charged them to be punctual, obedient, disciplined and dedicated to duty.
