Military holds parley with journalist on peace building in Gombe

The newly appointed Commander of the 301 Artillery Regiment Nigeria Army (General Support) in Gombe state, Colonel Sule Musa Ahmed has expressed determination to address security challenges in the state.

Speaking during a media parley held within the regiment command’s premises, Colonel S.M Ahmed outlined the army’s commitment to fostering better relations with the local population.

The commander says he aims to tackle issues like the Kalare boys, clashes between farmers and herders, inter-ethnic disputes, and various criminal activities within Gombe state.

He emphasized the army’s willingness to collaborate with relevant security agencies, media organizations, and the community to reshape the perception of Nigerians.

He also stressed that their operations would be conducted with a strong respect for human rights. In his response, Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists Gombe state Chapter, Comrade Sa’idu Bappah Malala, expressed the unwavering readiness of journalists in Gombe state to collaborate with the 301 Artillery Regiment.

He assured the commander that journalist in the state would provide an open line of communication, ensuring the safety and well-being of the people of Gombe state.

Comrade Malala also called on all media outlets and journalists in Gombe state to unite in their cooperation with the Nigeria Army, to contribute to a crime-free society.

The one day event was attended by representatives of various media houses in Gombe state, along with the captains of the regiment, there was also an award presentation to the Gombe NUJ chairman by the commander 301 Artillery Regiment.
