Bauchi State Government has received over two point five million doses of the Novel Oral Polio Vaccine (nOPV) from the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) for the April round of Polio immunisation campaign.
The Executive Chairman of the State Primary Health Care, Dr Rilwanu Mohammed, stated this while launching the Immunisation Plus Days (IPDs) Polio campaign at Madina Quarters in Tirwun Ward, Bauchi metropolis.
Dr Rilwanu Mohammed said the exercise would cover the 13 zero-dose and other seven local government areas, assuring that no child would be left out.
He stated that over 160 monitors, including traditional leaders, media personnel and civil society organisations, would traverse the nooks and crannies of the state to ensure full compliance and coverage of the exercise.
Speaking, the Chief of UNICEF’s Bauchi Field Office, Dr Nuzhat Rafique, represented by the Social Behavioural Change Specialist, Mr George Eki, pledged the organisation’s support to help the state achieve its set targets.
She noted that out of the twenty LGAs of the state, thirteen have over five hundred thousand children who have never receive any form of vaccination, the trend she said must be checked.
The Village Head of Tirwun, Alhaji Muhammad Tirwun assured to mobilise people to present their children for the Immunisation.
