Presidency Hails NEDC For Post Insurgency Recovery Project

The Minister of Regional Development Commission (RDC ) Alhaji Abubakar Momoh was in Maiduguri on a two day working visit to inspect the feat of Northeast Development Commission. On arrival the Minister paid homage to the Shehu of Borno Alhaji Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai Elkanemi to pay homage to the royal father.

The Minister explained that he was in the state here with a team from the Ministry of Regional Development RDC, on a working visit to the Northeast Development Commission which is saddle with responsibility of bringing development to the grass roots and to see what is happening.

He commended the Shehu of Borno for the effort so far in maintaining the peace in his domain and called for continued support to the present administration.

In a remark the Shehu of Borno Alhaji Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai Elkanemi, thanked the Minister for the visit and commended him for the effort done during the September 10th flash flood.

There after Abubakar Momoh proceeded to the Government House to meet with Governor Babagana Umara Zulum who was represented by the Deputy Governor Hon. Umar Usman Kadafur.

He said the primary objective of his visit is to assess the activities of the North East Development Commission (NEDC) in Borno State and engage directly with the state government to strengthen collaboration and align developmental priorities.

The Regional Development Commission Minister reiterated its commitment to rebuilding Borno State, promising increased investment in infrastructure, security, and economic recovery under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

The Deputy Governor , Umar Usman Kadafur, while welcoming them, explained the commission’s impact in various sectors and appreciated its efforts in restoring economic activity in the Lake Chad Basin and President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda is already positively impacting Borno.

The Minister of Regional Development commission commended the NEDC for giant strides recorded aimed at enhancing the livelihood of the vulnerable in post insurgency recovery in the region.

Speaking shortly after the inspection of some developmental projects executed by the agency in Jere, Mafa and Maiduguri councils of the state, he noted that the region has witnessed massive destruction as a result of 15 years insurgency conflicts, reiterating that the commission uphold its core mandates by repositioning and rebuild the ruins of the affected infrastructures and communities.

He then highlighted that a tour of various project sites would showcase the commission’s impactful interventions, which have improved infrastructure, livelihoods, and recovery efforts in conflict-affected areas.
