Sokoto State Government has expanded three billion naira on payment of outstanding tuition and registration fees for Sokoto students in various Nigerian universities and tertiary institutions across the country.
The Federation of Sokoto State Students Association FOSOSSA disclosed this at a press conference aimed at expressing the Association appreciation for the commitment of the state Government in the education sector of the state.
President of the Association comrade Yusuf Sabi’u said the move relieved financial burden on thousands of families and allowed students to continue their education without disruption.
Comrade Yusuf said the state has also ensure prompt payment of tuition fees for Sokoto students studying abroad, including those in India, Sudan, and those relocated from war-torn Ukraine.
According to him, the intervention saved many students from being expelled and reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to global academic competitiveness.
The group also praised Governor Ahmad Aliyu for wide-range of infrastructural investments in the education sector, including the renovation of schools, restoration of electricity to campuses, rehabilitation of hostels, purchase of books and ICT equipment, and the construction of modern sanitation facilities.
The association used the occasion to urge other Nigerian governors to emulate Sokoto state student-focused policies and youth empowerment initiatives for sustainable development.
