The National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives, Bauchi State Chapter, has joined its counterpart across the country on a seven-day warning strike to press home their demands.

The State Chairman of the association,, Comrade Dalhat Umar, confirmed this in an exclusive interview with Globe FM Bauchi, stating the strike follows unmet demands by the federal government.

Part of the demands include gazetting the 2016 nursing scheme of service, implementing a 2012 arbitration court judgement, and reviewing professional allowances for nurses and midwives.

Other demands are increased nursing staff recruitment, better health facilities, a Nursing Department at the Federal Ministry of Health, and nurse inclusion in policymaking leadership.

Comrade Umar confirmed Bauchi Chapter’s compliance with the national directive to withdraw services, urging the government to act swiftly to prevent further disruptions.

The Labour Minister, Muhammad Maigari Dingyadi, has yesterday met representatives of the association urging suspension of the strike, calling it an unproductive approach to resolving health sector disputes.
