Yobe State Executive Council Approves N40 Billion for Various Projects

The Yobe State Executive Council (EXCO), has approved a total of N40 billion for various projects aimed at boosting agricultural production, improving healthcare delivery, and enhancing infrastructure development in the state.

The approval was given during the council’s meeting held on Wednesday, the 30th of July 2025, presided over by the State Deputy Governor, Idi Barde Gubana, in Damaturu.

Briefing journalists on the outcome shortly after the Executive Council meeting, the Commissioner of Home Affairs Information and Culture, Abdullahi Bego, pointed out that some of the approved projects include: Construction of office complexes for five agencies, which comprised: the Bureau for Public Procurement and the Agency for Public-Private Partnership and Investment Promotion, for N1.767 billion.

Construction of an office building for the Yobe Investment Company Ltd. at a cost of N962.6 million.

Construction of Machina Modern Market for N2.787 billion, Completion of Potiskum Modern Market at a cost of N3.986 billion and Establishment of a Central Motor Park in Damaturu at a cost of N6.131 billion.

According to the Commissioner the council also approved funds for agricultural inputs, including:
Procurement of agricultural inputs for dry season farming at a cost of N3.799 billion, Procurement of 490 solar-powered water pumps for small-scale irrigation farmers at a cost of N480.2 million.

In the healthcare sector, the council approved:
Absorption of 422 new health workers, including midwives, Community Health Extension Workers, and Community-Based Health Workers.

He, therefore, explained that the EXCO has also approved N1.229 billion for Procurement of medical and laboratory equipment for secondary and tertiary healthcare facilities across the state.

The Commissioner added that the council further approved funds for road construction projects, including:
Construction of 5KM Daya-Fadawa road at a cost of N1.248 billion, 18.5km Mashio-Ngelzarma road at a cost of N4.384 billion.
