Young NIgerians Targeted in 2025 PachiPanda Drive for Environmental Solutions

By Sakina Ahmed

Young Nigerians have been presented with a platform to showcase innovative solutions to pressing environmental challenges as the 2025 Nigeria PachiPanda Challenge opens for entries nationwide.

The contest, supported by MTN Nigeria, United Nations Development Programme, Worldwide Fund for Nature, and Nigerian Conservation Foundation, is expected to nurture youth-driven ideas capable of transforming communities and ecosystems.

A statement shared to Radio Nigeria by the organisers said the initiative provides opportunities for young innovators to design workable solutions that can address critical national priorities such as pollution, renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, and community conservation practices.

This year’s theme, “Nourishing Tomorrow: Innovations for Food, Energy, and Water Security,” reflects concerns over rising pressures on essential resources and the need for locally driven approaches to sustainability.

According to the statement finalists will undergo intensive training during a three-day design sprint featuring mentorship, human-centred design processes, and business development sessions to enhance the quality and market viability of their proposals.

It says the challenge will conclude with a national pitch before experts, after which winners will proceed to represent Nigeria at the continental Africa PachiPanda Challenge alongside innovators from across the region.

By creating this pathway, the statement say the partners aim to empower Nigerian youth with the skills, exposure, and resources needed to become future leaders in sustainable development and climate action.

Applications remain open until October 3, 2025, giving young Nigerians between 18 and 35 years the opportunity to submit proposals either individually or in teams of three via https://www.mtn.com/pachipanda-challenge](http://www.mtn.com/pachipanda-challenge/).

Radio Nigeria observed that the challenge could inspire a new generation of problem-solvers, ensuring Nigerian youth contribute meaningfully to achieving global sustainability targets and securing a greener, more resilient future for the country
