Adamawa State Gov’t approves ₦10,000 for Corps members in the state

Adamawa state government has approved ten thousand naira to be added to the monthly allowance of corps members serving in the state effective from January, 2024.

This was disclosed by the Adamawa state governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri during the swearing in ceremony of the 2023 batch ‘c’, stream two corps members deployed to Adamawa state which was held at the NYSC Orientation camp Damare, Girei local government area.

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri said the additional ten thousand naira was approved to the corps members in order to cushion the effect of subsidy removal on fuel by the federal government.

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri said the deployment of the corp members to the state was a deliberate effort which is in line with the objectives of the scheme aimed at broadening their understanding of the country’s diverse ethnicity and to strategically place them on good footings for effective contributions to the promotion of national unity and integration.

While reminding them that white-collar jobs are not readily available, the governor encouraged them to avail themselves of the opportunities for self-employment offered through the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development Programme.

In his remarks, the NYSC state coordinator Mr. Jingi Dennis said the Orientation Course is meant to prepare the corps members physically and mentally for their expected contributions to the progress and development of the country as well as individual feats in the service and post-service years.

Jingi Dennis stated that the NYSC has started reviewing its posting policies in which more corps members are now being posted to the Local Government Areas outside the metropolis in order to ensure that no Local Government Area or community is left behind as far as their services are concerned.

Also, the chairman NYSC state governing board, who is also the commissioner of youth and sport, Barristar Wali Yakubu, welcomed the corps members to the state and called on them to abide by all the camp rules and regulations and participate actively in all the camp activities.

Oath of allegiance was administered by the Chief Judge of Adamawa state Justice Hapsat Abdulrahaman, represented by Justice Helen Hammajoda Nuhu.

A total number of one thousand, three hundred and forty corps members were posted to the state.
