UNICEF Pledges More Interventions To Education Sector in Yobe

The United Nations Children’s Education Fund, UNICEF, expressed its commitment to building the capacity of Teachers in Yobe State.

The UNICEF made the commitment when the Borno D field office Team led By the Education Specialist, Dr Yusuf Isma’il paid a one-day working visit to Nguru Local Government Education Authority, LGEA, in Nguru the Headquarters of Nguru Local Government of Yobe State.

Dr Yusuf Isma’il said the aim of the visit was to look at the areas that needed attention on how to improve teachings and learning in the council area.

He, therefore, commended Nguru LGEA for its sustainability of the programme and called on the Education Secretary to maintain the success recorded.

He added that UNICEF is always ready to ensure the upliftment of Education to a standard level.

Receiving the delegation at his office, the Acting Education Secretary of Nguru Local Government, Mallam Hamisu Ado, thanked the team for the working visit and said the relationship between UNICEF and Nguru Local Government Education Authority, has helped immensely in refilling the learning poverty gaps that exist among the teaming school pupils in the General Area.

The Education Secretary pointed out that UNICEF deserves commendations, especially on the interventions put in place through certain Programmes like Teaching At The Right Level ( TaRL) which have positively improved the Learning Outcomes of school children, urging the UNICEF team to sustain the momentum.

While on a visit to Nguru Local Government Care Taker Committee Chairman, Alh. Madu Kachalla, where he commended the team for a job well done, and also assured his total support and cooperation to come together and move the Education level of the entire locality to another peak.

The Education Secretary further requested the Local Government to redeploy all its employees who possess teaching qualifications to the LGEA to reimpose teaching and Learning in the Council Area.
