Umar Chuso Takes Over as Gombe State’s 24th Commissioner of Police

The Gombe State Police Command has announced the assumption of duty of Commissioner of Police Umar Ahmed Chuso as the 24th Commissioner of Police in the state.

A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer DSP Buhari Abdullahi, says, CP Chuso takes over from CP Bello Yahaya, who has been redeployed by the Inspector-General of Police to the Police Staff College in Jos.

Speaking after assuming office, the new Commissioner of Police called for the cooperation of residents and key stakeholders to effectively tackle crime and other social vices across Gombe State. He emphasized his commitment to strengthening community-based policing as a tool for crime prevention, intelligence gathering, and improved police-community relations.

CP Umar Ahmed Chuso hails from Sokoto South Local Government Area of Sokoto State. He is a graduate of Agricultural Economics from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and joined the Nigeria Police Force in 1994.

He has served in several strategic positions, including Commissioner of Police in Nasarawa State, Deputy Commandant of the Police Staff College, Jos, and Deputy Commissioner of Police in Kano and Delta States, among others.

The Commissioner has also attended various professional courses locally and internationally and is a Member of the Nigerian Institute of Police Studies.

CP Chuso has called on traditional rulers, community leaders, religious bodies, youth groups, and residents of the state to support the Police through information sharing and active participation in community policing initiatives.

He assured the people of Gombe State of his commitment to the protection of lives and property and the maintenance of peace and security across the state.
